About Darina Beesley, Curtains, Blinds and Soft
Furnishings
For many years Darina made curtains and soft
furnishings for her friends and family. She always
enjoyed working with textiles and attended
Northbrook College in Worthing to extend her
knowledge. With the encouragement of family and
friends she turned her hobby into a business in the
millennium year.
Since then Darina has gained a wealth of knowledge,
experience and expertise and loves to help clients
turn their ideas into reality. She will offer
practical solutions for problem windows and work
with clients, listening to their proposals, pointing
out any potential problems and offering advice and
guidance. Darina has now built a strong private and
commercial clientele in East & West Sussex.
A successful installation that Darina recently
undertook was a very large architect designed
conservatory/dining room in a private home in
Watersfield, near Pulborough. The Conservatory
comprised floor-to-ceiling glass on 3 sides
overlooking beautiful views of the countryside and
the client did not want to compromise on having any
of the idyllic view obstructed.
The challenge was to find an elegant solution which
would block glare from the sun in the summer, retain
heat in the winter, provide privacy when desired and
preserve the view.
After lengthy consultation with the client, full
length Double Pinch Pleat curtains (of Romo Tokia
Fabric) were installed on a continuous rectangular
19mm diameter seamless wrought iron curtain pole,
which enabled the client to draw the curtains to any
point anywhere around the 4 sides of the room.
This solution allowed the client during the daytime
to leave the curtains set back on the 4th wall of
the conservatory/dining room whilst providing a
completely unobstructed view of the countryside
through the 3 glass walls. Double Pinch Pleated
curtains minimised the ‘stack back’ of each curtain.
The first commercial project Darina undertook was
the installation of made to measure curtains, made
to measure blinds, voiles and curtain tracks for the
Larkswood Residential Home in Worthing. All of which
had to fully comply with the Statutory Regulation
for fire retardant materials in residential homes.
Darina has undertaken numerous projects for the
Sussex NHS Partnership as far afield as Eastbourne
and Hailsham and also installed curtains and curtain
poles at English Martyrs Church (Sistene Chapel) in
Goring By Sea.
The business has grown to include the supply and
fitting of made to measure Venetian Blinds, Vertical
Blinds, Roller Blinds, Wooden Blinds, Woodweave
blinds and Pinoleum Blinds. A recent addition to the
product range is the introduction of Wooden
Shutters.
